Selection Process

The selection of students in each specialization is made by the Programme Studies Committee of the respective Interinstitutional Postgraduate Program following a recommendation from the Coordinating Committee.

For the selection, the following elements are evaluated and considered, as derived from documents accompanying the candidates' application:

  1. Overall degree grade, analytical grade and grades in courses related to the direction of studies for which the application is submitted.

  2. Relation of courses of the basic undergraduate diploma to the postgraduate specialization of studies for which the application is submitted.

  3. Research activity as evidenced by publications in scientific conferences and scientific journals as well as proven participation in funded research programs.

  4. Letters of recommendation from faculty members that substantively comment on and evaluate the candidate's ability to meet the requirements of the postgraduate program.

  5. Professional experience in subjects related to the postgraduate study field for which the application is submitted.

  6. Proven knowledge of the English language, which is generally demonstrated by relevant certificates (level B2) or, where appropriate, and at the discretion of the Academic Council, by studies at universities where the official language is English.

The evaluation of applications and the selection of postgraduate students is mainly carried out by considering the following criteria:

  1. Overall degree grade: up to 50 points.

  2. Grade of related courses and diploma/graduate with the Interinstitutional Postgraduate Programs (I.P.P.): up to 25 points.

  3. Research activity (other than the thesis) of the candidate, relevant to the (I.P.P.), which is proven by publications (in reputable scientific journals and conferences with the referee system) or by certificates and attestations for participation in research programs: 15 points.

  4. Distinctions: 10 points

  5. Recommendation letters: They are considered.

The Coordinating Committee, in order to formulate its proposal to the Programme Studies Committee of the I.P.P., may invite prospective students to an interview.
